Abstract: Examining the “simple hallucination” and the “hallucination of words” signalled in “Alchimie du verbe”, this study connects these words to terms which can be seen to introduce them in the work : “effarement”, “dérèglement des sens”, “voyant”. More than an experience linked to narcotics, it is a question of moving beyond reality through a conscious transformation of the person, and the foundation of a poetics therein, readable above all in the Illuminations.
