Abstract: This work analyses the virulent energy of style in Saint-Simon’s Mémoires. It studies the foundations, legitimacy, and modalities of the rhetoric of blame, in its epideictic and legal functions, in order to show that it participates in a discourse with larger, pragmatic aspirations.
