Abstract: Framed by a calling into question of realism, Les Nuits d’Octobre, is a tale recounting how the narrator goes wandering through Paris at night, which continues in Meaux and in his native Valois. Devoted to the observation of the “bizarre combinations of life,” mixed with fantaisisme and essayism, Nerval’s realism, with its form and content blended together, runs counter to the historical and literary academicism that were then challenging the proper representation of reality.
