- Abstract: Starting from the observation that Laforgue was, during his short career, unfailingly faithful to Eduard von Hartmann’s Philosophy of the Unconscious, even when the “tragic Buddhist” became a “dilettante Buddhist,” this article looks at how the poetics of Les Complaintes accommodates, with its most abstruse wordplay, this philosophy that “répond de tout et à tout.”
