- Abstract: The comic methods of Andromaque become apparent in the play’s ridiculous characters, who have a complex in relation to their parents, or who are rejected by the person they love. Oreste makes a mockery of himself, and Pyrrhus claims to be “le fils d’Achille et le vainqueur de Troie” while remaining a slave to his passion. In reaction to their situation, they disguise themselves advantageously, but deceive no one. This play typifies an existential crisis seeking compensation in appearances.
