- Abstract: The two works La Gerbe and Panorama by the theater critic Lenormand paint a valuable picture of the theatrical landscape between 1940 and 1944. The writer applauds the poetic creations of Maeterlinck, Montherlant, Giraudoux and Claudel, and the foreign plays of Strindberg, Ibsen, and Pirandello. He also praises the avant-garde of the interwar period, which was marked by the influence of Freud, as well as the younger generation of Anouilh and Sartre, whose shows gave rise to a new sensibility.
