. Proust au temps du cinématographe : un écrivain face aux médias
  • Author: Sirois-Trahan (Jean-Pierre)
  • Abstract: In 1923, the art critic Paul Fierens, in an homage to the writer, evoked the analogies between Proust’s work and the nascent cinema. This article tries to capture the multiple relations that connect the writer and the cinema, from the earliest days of its invention until its emergence as an art during the Great War. Contrary to popular belief, the cinema implicitly defines one of the aims of the Recherche. The writer is himself a character immersed in the history of the cinema.
