- Abstract: If it is true that literariness consists, amongst other things, in a game of intertextual relations, translating La Recherche means conserving the links which inscribe it within world literature. But the first literature to lend to the original is that of the target culture. Allowing Russian readers to recreate, from their own literary heritage, a system of echoes similar to that of the original, through a disseminated network of familiar quotations, is the translator’s real challenge.
