Abstract: Focusing on the two titles of À la recherche du temps perdu and Du côté de chez Swann, the author observes the variations in Croatian titles over the course of various retranslations. It is the polysemy of the words “recherche” and “côté”, illuminated and further complicated by the great temporal and spatial themes of the novel, which most determines the aptness of the titles.
