- Abstract: The translation of La Recherche into Korean runs into several lexical difficulties concerning realities unknown in Korean or difficult to document (e.g. “guérite”, “boule”, “pain de sucre”), locutions with an ironic tone, and denominations which often bring about misinterpretations, like terms of kinship, less precise and thus more ambiguous in French than in Korean. Choosing a term of kinship thus implies making a genealogical assumption that Proust chose not to explain.
