- Abstract: This study is supported by Jamal Chehayed’s translation of the last two volumes of the Recherche (Albertine disparue, 2003, and Le Temps retrouvé, 2005), a translation which concludes the Syrian undertaking begun in 1977 by Elias Bdéoui. The author considers the challenges posed by the word “time” for Arabic: this polsemantic term unfolds all its meanings during the course of the Recherche, and in its very title as well.
