Abstract: Ten years after L’Arpenteur et le navigateur, Monique LaRue’s L’Œil de Marquise keeps track of a return to the essay. Here, polygraphy allows the transfer of an ideological and political controversy in the novel, and deals with the referent to the point of providing fiction with a quasi-therapeutic function.
