Abstract: A certain usage of language gives primacy to the signifier. It acts according to the features revealed by modern poetry and also in what Lacan called lalangue. This relationship with the signifier is set up at the same time as the subject of the unconscious is formed—in the poet’s case, it shapes knowledge.
