• Abstract: Whereas touch is considered the most bestial of the five senses, it is treated somewhat differently in the tapestry dedicated to this sense in the Dame à la Licorne cycle. The animals it features are not wild but domesticated. The sixth tapestry, “À mon seul désir”, represents the renunciation of the senses. Why this sudden and unexpected control of the senses? And what does this particularity add to the interpretations of the cycle which have already been offered?
