Abstract: This multi-disciplinary work carries on from Hélène Vérin’s work on technical thinking in the modern age. It analyzes the development between the sixteenth and twenty-first centuries of a “science of operational intentions, irreducible to the application of science and distinct from occupational knowledge.”
