Abstract: Rousseau transformed our understanding of the human phenomenon. Thirteen studies assess this intellectual revolution which has implications for conceptions of the self, the idea of goodness, the potential of politics, and the perception of society. Each study scrutinises the radical nature of the science of humankind inaugurated by Rousseau.
