  • Abstract: This article demonstrates the way in which Rabelais translated certain passages from the Hippocratic corpus into Latin which had been omitted by his predecessors. It also identifies the instruments and sources used by the humanist in this work of restoration based on the Greek source. Finally, it demonstrates the extent to which this philological work, however scholarly, constitutes an essential backdrop to the interpretation of his narrative œuvre.
