  • Abstract: Translation is the site par excellence of the deployment of “good style”. Far from being a simple “wall scrubber”, the translator can concentrate exclusively on stylistic transposition seeing as she or he does not need to enquire into the subject matter. This style seeks to illuminate the excellence of the French language, but also the superiority of the French people from an intellectual as much as political perspective. But how was “good style” defined?
