Abstract: To gain a better grasp of the linguistic dynamics at work in Renaissance Europe, this contribution suggests a method originating in the Eurolab project (2010-2013): studying “laboratories” (printing workshops, war zones, classes, multilingual metropoles…) where, thanks to the concomitant presence of several languages, phenomena of experimentation, appropriation, and confrontation, and debates between languages (Latin and vernacular) can be observed in a privileged way.
