- Abstract: Focusing on Geoffrey Chaucer’s poem Troilus and Criseyde, this article examines the reception in english culture of the Trojan history and the conventions of fin’amor from courtly poetry. Emphasized topics are woman’s faithfulness, love’s enobling function, the secrecy surrounding the lovers, distant love, and feudal vassality, which exhibit alterations of the provençal models as they are assimilated into the poem’s structures. This work shall examine how these changes may be considered as parody of the courly literature tradition.
