- Abstract: After presenting the collaborative Anglo-Italian project “Lyric responses to the crusades in medieval France and Occitania”, the paper analyses Sordel’s Lai al comte mon segnor voill pregar (BdT 437.18) as a parodic response to the crusading plans of Charles of Anjou in 1248, reviewing the significance of textual details that earlier editors have either overlooked or dismissed as errors.
