- Abstract: The proximity of L’Escoufle and Guillaume de Palerne in the manuscript of the Arsenal 6565 exacerbates the parodic dimension of those two “romances of Guillaume” (Ferlampin-Acher), who both modulate, each in their own way, the “wild man” motif and, more generally, the theme of wilderness. The miniature that is found at the juncture between the two texts emphasizes this playful rewriting of the traditional romance material.
