Ipomédon de Hue de Rotelande, un travestissement parodique ?
- Publication type: Article from a collective work
- Collective work: Parodies courtoises, parodies de la courtoisie
- Author: Véran-Boussaadia (Céline)
- Abstract: By inserting in Ipomédon references to his contemporaries, Hue de Rotelande engages in a parody of the genre: he targets the courtly romance and not a specific work. As he plays with allusions, courtois ethics and the rhetoric of the romance, the author deliberately deceives the expectations of the audience. His writing of dissonance aims to provoque the laughter of the public. In fact, the hilarity of his characters is emphasized and the author engages in a self-parody of his work, thus proving his playful and non-critic objectives.
