- Abstract: Cardinal Roques, Archbishop of Rennes, has clearly supported MRP, especially during 1945-1951. His views are not shared by some other bishops in the area, who are convinced that private education is better advocated by the conservative groups (PRL, Gaullists). The divergence in strategies is highest during the tax strike in 1950. The voting of Barangé and Marie Laws then imposes a logic of unity to the Association parlementaire pour la liberté de l’enseignement and the catholic hierarchy.
