- Abstract: In considering the cemeteries which punctuate the late romance of Ysaïe le Triste like a metaphor spun from literary heritage, this article notes a displacement in the function of the marvellous. In these tomb visits, during which the hero evolves like a figure of reading, the supernatural serves less to enchant the account than to lead a meta-textual reflection on the past of the genre of romance.
