- Abstract: By examining works of all genres which perpetuate three precise motifs dramatizing a luiton (romance, epic, fabliau, etc.), this study underlines the generic polyvalence of this supernatural figure, but shows that its employment is the object of a specialisation in relation to each genre. The epic profits from the plasticity of this figure in its « holistic » renewal from the thirteenth century onwards, while the romance keeps it rather separate.
