- Abstract: By combining poetic analysis with the study of manuscripts, this article seeks to re-evaluate the generic problems posed by the hybrid novel Partonopeu de Blois which seeks to insert the Breton imaginary into an Oriental, edifying framework. While the reception of this text has been shaped by various models (epic, Oriental, didactic), the Breton marvellous appears to have been removed, suggesting that the work sought to edify more than entertain.
