- Publication type: Article from a collective work

- Abstract: The new anatomy which appeared in the Renaissance contained an ethics and an imaginary which would encourage it to be turned into a model for a science of the passions to elaborate. Anatomical metaphors are based on the idea that a representation of mental operations is possible. When Protestant writers employ it, they slip from the register of physiology into that of psychology, ethics, and even moral theology.
