Abstract: This work shows how, between the Early Modern Period and the Enlightenment, philosophers and doctors contributed to the genesis of anthropology. Anatomy, physiology, and pathology contributed to the operation of “de-centring” the human, a process which had for a long time been associated solely with the astronomic revolution.
