  • Abstract: We take a new look at morals and ethics, dealing with the story’s metaphorical aspects and games of mirrors. We apply our psychoanalytical epistemology to these questions. La Belle et la Bête is a tale about adolescence. It speaks indirectly in words or directly in images of the existential and emotional torments of this crucial period. Beauty and the Beast are two sides of a coin : the subject’s metamorphosis as s/he is caught between desires and pulsions, piety and sin, enjoyment and guilt.
