Abstract: For Maurice Maeterlinck, the theatricality of a work must be dramatised so that the “spectacle of the poem” emerges. That is what is at stake in writing which places the question of the representable centre-stage in theatre, to the extent that the articulation between saying and showing becomes problematic.
