• Abstract: A writer of East and West, long established at Beirut, Schehadé’s poetry is based on the recurrence of some of the simplest words which designate realities at once immediate and eternal. They offer an interpenetration of the familiar real and another reality. This poet of serene despair expresses a constant, but light, melancholy. In his theatre, which is based on a dramaturgy of dream and joy, the bizarre, the humorous, and the fantastic express themselves all the more.
