- Abstract: Already cited in L’Écolier sultan and Rodogune Sinne, the village of Paola Scala appears to be the capital of Schehadé’s universe, the Garden of Eden par excellence. Forced to leave Paola Scala at the beginning of the play, Bob’le is a figure of exile. The hero’s two addresses to the Virgin show that Bob’le’s exile is not, however, linked to the village itself, which is only a mythical image. Bob’le is a pure figure of exile, suffering from an incurable malady called life.
