- Abstract: Originally from a small village in the middle of the Iraqi desert, the autodiegetic narrator of Les Sirènes de Bagdad, who lacks a first name and a precise identity, undergoes several profound physical and psychological transformations after immigrating to Baghdad. The way he looks at his own body and his brothers-in-arms, Sayed and Yacine, changes due to the transformations resulting in part from their exile to an Other space and culture and also in part because of their religious radicalization.
