- Abstract: A homosexual and an émigré, Taïa helps create a transnational Islamic masculinity that is simultaneously decentered and anchored in the cultural heritage of its lands of origin. Based on Lacanian psychoanalysis and on Connell’s examinations of hegemonic masculinity, this contribution analyzes the importance of displacement in the construction of the writer’s homosexual identity far from his native country but still under the imaginary sway of the Arab, heteronormative male body.
