  • Author: Martens (David)
  • Abstract: Throughout a nineteenth century descended from the Revolution, the idea of nobility played a major part in French literary history. The logics of the imaginary, bringing the nobility into play in terms of social class as much as in terms of an axiological model, determined the history of a literary field which was undergoing profound transformations. This introductory article lays the groundwork for a reflection on the way the nobiliary model was treated by writers.
