Abstract: Focusing on highly contemporary neo-Hellenic theatre, this article studies the notion of the verbatim spectacle and develops a reflection on its generic specificity, its approaches, and its sociopolitical reach. Interrogating the contemporary world head-on, this theatrical form, which dramatizes word for word the speech of real people, tends to redefine the modalities of spectator reception as well as the protocol of theatre as a whole.
