Abstract: This article studies Le Balcon by Jean Genet in the context of Foucauldian space, notably that of heterotopia and heterotopic principles, which seem to find a perfect application in the play in question. The emphasis is placed on the relations between space and the human body which inhabits it, and on the link between space and the exercise of power.
