Abstract: At Saint-Cyr, under the direction of Mme de Maintenon, the young girls are taught a way of life rather than an intellectual curriculum. The work entitled Les Loisirs de Madame de Maintenon records the history of a «worldly survival» for the girls destined to return to social life or to enter a religious order.
