• Abstract: In the Mediterranean area, France relied on a number of consuls to obtain information concerning the quality of resources necessary to supply and sustain its fleet. This contribution analyses the construction of this information and the way it was treated on reaching France. Generally of good quality, this information could nonetheless be too partial, which could thus compromise the construction of the Toulon fleet.
