- Abstract: This contribution examines the republic of Genoa’s modes of collecting, communicating, and treating information from at the time of the official return of the Genovese people to the Levant (1665-1670). It presents a contemporary report suggesting a reform of procedures aiming at improving the circulation of news at the heart of the government and at facilitating decision-making. The Genovese case allows for an examination of the institutionalisation of maritime news and of consular information.
