- Abstract: The consular system played a major role in the Italian policy of infiltrating the Near East and Middle East in the 1920s and 1930s. Consuls were the best placed to provide information on the local situation and on the reception of propaganda in Arabic diffused by Radio Bari, one of the most innovative tools used in the process of Italian advancement in the Mediterranean.
