• Abstract: It is ­commonly assumed that a ­writer’s and/or ­orator’s country of origin and educational background are manifest in hs or her manner of being and use of words. But what about the case of politicians? Do they use a specific mode of ­communication? To carry out our study, we have identified three French politicians whose Mediterranean origins are more or ­confirmed: Édouard Balladur, Manuel Valls and Jean-Claude Gaudin.
