- Abstract: All dictionaries bear witness to a global phenomenon: the study, in space and time, of multiple cultural universes, manifest within them. Following from Greco-Latin tradition, it is necessary to evoke the fundamental heritage and significant origins of Italian, French, Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese, Provençal, Occitan, Romansh (of Switzerland), Romanian, and to underscore that this heritage imbues other languages with borrowings, most notably English.
