- Abstract: By adopting a viewpoint that conjoins and intermingles a métalexicographical approach and a sociolinguistic approach, this article examines the dictionary through the very nature of its intrinsic plurality. He seeks to demonstrate that this linguistic tool, the object of fantasies and representations alike finds its identity somewhere between the poles of necessity and artificiality.
