Abstract: Reflection on the nature of absolute power has engendered much debate in Latin philosophy and literature, from Antiquity to the Renaissance. The diachronic analysis undertaken in this collective work demonstrates the permanence, and potential, of inquiries into the exercise and legitimacy of power.
