Abstract: A wide-ranging exploration of Zola's œuvre, this collection of articles tackles the major themes in his work but also the aspects which have been less studied: irony, the fantastic, religion, and decadence. It brings the richness of the Zola imaginary and its profound obsessions (flesh, force, and sacrifice) to the fore.
