Abstract: Using the trial of a couple of poisoners in Anjou in the late Middle Ages as a basis, this contribution seeks to illuminate the material reality of poisoning and the way in which the medieval justice system dealt with it. The interrogations of the accused allow us to see, amongst other things, the way in which poison was prepared and manipulated, its effects on the body, but also how the extraordinary subject was approached.
