- Abstract: From 1860 to 1914, five public monuments representing political personalities or events were inaugurated in Nice. The decision to erect them, their inaugurations and protocol, the chosen location, and the symbolism used, reveal the different issues structuring local political life. They provide a means of studying the construction of communal identity in Nice.
