- Abstract: In a study of the Third Republic in Corsica, the press is a useful resource for analysing the engagement of the rural masses in politics and the perception of the ideological transmissions of the elite. Between 1870 and 1914, 219 periodicals were created on the island and 31 outside Corsica. What were the goals and role of the insular journals regarding the politicisation of the rural masses ?
